On Friday 3rd July, children from Years 4, 5 and 6, who have been learning guitar with Mr. Bolger and drums with Mr. Regan from the Wolverhampton Music Service, performed a selection of songs they have been practising throughout the academic year. Playing in front of a packed hall of nearly 350 fellow pupils, the children demonstrated tremendous confidence, musical skill and enthusiasm. As part of literacy, the children took part in the annual Poetry Fortnight. Throughout the fortnight, they practised writing poems in their lessons and had the opportunity to learn and recite this year’s poem, The Sound Collector. As part of the 2026 Commonwealth Games celebrations in Glasgow, the Cross-Country team from Wilkinson Primary School proudly carried the baton through Bilston to the sound of enthusiastic cheers. The baton was handed to them by pupils from Holy Trinity Catholic Primary School, before being carried onwards to St Martin’s CE Primary School in preparation for the celebrations.

January 2026 saw the annual Year 5 maths challenge at King Edward's School, Birmingham take place. Four of our children travelled over to Birmingham to represent the school but unfortunately didn't manage to get in the medal places this time. Well done to Riaan, Alton, Kyriaki and Mishal for working so hard.

As part of the Year 6 Natural Disasters topic, the Year 6 children visited Bewdley to learn all about how the town has adapted to deal with flooding from The River Severn. They took part in a learning walk along the river path to learn how the flood defences for the town operate and the history of flooding in the town. The children also learned about the historic tradition of rope-making in Bewdley and essential life-saving skills for along the riverside!

Children took part in their second trip of Year 2 with a visit to Cosford Air Museum. They enjoyed seeing the amazing planes that they have been learning about including the Spitfire, Messerschmitt and Miles Magister. Everyone had a wonderful day and children can now say they have sat in the cockpit of a fighter jet!

In the week beginning 22nd September Year 2 took part in their annual residential visit to Kingswood. We were blessed with wonderful weather and everyone had a brilliant time, taking part in outdoor activities, meeting lots of animals and even visiting Kingswood’s very own Anderson Shelter. Lots of the children have grown in confidence with some asking if there is a residential visit every year!

Year 4 went to the Lunt Roman Fort for our Roman topic. We went through the gates to discover the battle arena where we learnt to fight like a Roman solider. We started by learning how to hold a sword correctly and fight using the shield. Then children were separated into 4 groups so they could have a group battle and protect their teacher. Year two took part in a wonderful visit to Selly Manor in Birmingham to learn all about the Great Fire of London and to see a building of that time period. They took part in storytelling, interactive games from the period, as well as being guided around the manor seeing all the different rooms and artefacts. Everyone loved seeing how people would have lived and learned lots by touring the kitchen, dining room as well as the bedroom.

We have really enjoyed looking after the duck eggs in EYFS over the last two weeks. The eggs had to stay in the incubator until they were ready to hatch. We watched closely and then suddenly one of the eggs cracked and a little duckling broke the shell and climbed out. He was soon joined by two more. The children have really enjoyed watching them grow and have all had the opportunity to hold a duckling carefully too. They have now left us to go back to the farm to continue gr
