Year 4 - British Science Week & Science Day
For British Science Week Year 4 celebrated by having visitors in to deliver an Elastic Racers workshop. Children had to create a car and move it as far as possible using an elastic band. We had lots of fun whilst learning about forces. Then we dressed up as different types of scientists for Science Day. Bilston Area Cross Country Race
Wednesday 11th March saw both of our girls and boys cross country teams win gold at the annual Bilston area cross country race. Tommy and Hannah led the teams by winning individual gold medals. Well done to all of the team who now go on to the town finals at Aldersley.

World Book Day
In March 2026 we celebrated World Book Day by turning our classroom doors into our class reader.

National Space Centre
The children of Year 6 visited the National Space Centre in Leicester to look at transport in outer space. As part of the trip, they visited the planetarium to learn about how astronauts train their bodies and mind for space travel. They also learned all about the space race and how technology has advanced through the years allowing humans to visit the moon and collect samples from space!

Selly Manor February 2026
As part of their Spring Term topic Year 2 enjoyed a visit to Selly Manor in Bourneville, Birmingham where they learned all about the Great Fire of London and that historical period. They had a very busy day that consisted of storytelling, playing games and a tour around the manor house. The children had a brilliant time, and the visit added context to the lessons they have taken part in, in History and Geography this term.

Cross Country Relay Competition
17 runners took part in the most recent Cross Country event held at Fordhouses Cricket Club. Children ran in boys and girls relay teams and performed brilliantly on a bright but chilly evening. We didn't make the medal places on this occasion but everyone worked so hard and performed to the best of their ability so well done to everyone who took part.

Year 5 King Edward's Maths Challenge
January 2026 saw the annual Year 5 maths challenge at King Edward's School, Birmingham take place. Four of our children travelled over to Birmingham to represent the school but unfortunately didn't manage to get in the medal places this time. Well done to Riaan, Alton, Kyriaki and Mishal for working so hard.

Year 4 Timezone
Year 4 had a special visitor who came to tell us all about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. We started in her house learning about Viking families and how their villages were run. Then we looked at different artefacts. We used stones to grind flour and used Viking tools to chisel, saw and make holes in wood. We made bracelets using a lucet and we also go to handle lots of old bones. In the afternoon we learned about battles, we each had a shield and spear and learnt to march and

STEM Workshop
As part of our science ambassador programme, we invited parents and siblings to join us as we completed a STEM workshop. We used K’NEX to design and create a machine to propel a ball as far as possible. Everyone, including parents, had a great time and learned lots about forces and working together as a team.
