Our children now all have a GOOGLE CLASSROOM account, which they will be using in school and are able to access at home on a tablet or laptop/computer .

You can access your child's GOOGLE CLASSROOM account using the username and password they have been provided with and clicking the button at the top of this webpage or this button here:

What is Google Classroom?

Google Classroom is a free Google App that provides learning online. It can be accessed from any device connected to the internet - laptops, desktop computers, tablets and mobile phones (Apple or Android). It is free, ad-free , reliable and secure . These tools are already used by millions of pupils in schools around the world. 

Using Google Classroom

Please watch the videos or read the instructions below to learn how to use Google Classroom. There are two sets of instructions/videos one for use on a computer, one for use on a tablet or phone.

These instructions are for a COMPUTER, click the button to go to instructions for a TABLET/PHONE

Go to Classroom.Google.com

Then enter username, click 'NEXT'.

 

 

Enter password and click 'NEXT' (or press enter).

Click on their class title. This will take them to their ‘classroom’.

 STREAM

This is where you will see posts from teachers. Posts may contain links to websites, classwork set by your child’s teacher or simple communications between all the members of the class.

To post a message click on 'Announce something to your class' and type the message. Posts are always monitored by your child’s teacher, so we ask that posts are kind and positive and are asking a question about their work or responding to a post.

CLASSWORK

This is where you will find the work set by the teacher. 

Clicking on the assignment title…

 …will bring up the instructions, links and the work.

Read the instructions for the task.

There may be links to websites or videos to watch before doing any work.

Work will be  a Google Doc or  Google Slide. Click on the icon to open and complete the task.

HANDING IN WORK

When you have finished the work you need to hand it in for the teacher to mark.

 

To ‘Hand In’ completed work click ‘View Assignment’…

… then click ‘Turn in’. (This may say ‘Hand in’ or it may say 'Mark as done'). You can unsubmitt work if you realise it wasn't finished.

Download the Google Classroom, Google Docs and Google Slides apps from the App Store or Google Play Store.

Click on the square with the arrow in it (top right) to open the work in the app. 

For Google Docs, tap the circle with the blue pencil in to begin to edit. Double tap if there are boxes to type into.

For Google slides double tap in the boxes to edit (if needed).

HANDING IN WORK

LOGGING OUT​

There is no need to log out of Google Classroom on a tablet if you are the only user, just close the app.

 

However, if the same tablet is going to be used by another child on Google Classroom then you will need to 'log out'.

First go back to the classes screen (tap the three little lines in the top left of the screen and tap 'Classes').

Then tap the circle with the initial in it in the top right of the screen. You will get a 'window'.

Tap 'Manage accounts on this device'. You will get a second window.

Tap 'Remove from this device'.
