  • Canal Art

During the spring term in Year One, we have been busy learning all about canals. We have been learning what they were/are used for, when they were built and have created some of our own canal art inspired by the local artist Julie Tonkin. We created a pack to take home including a bookmark, painted tile and an e-book that we created in pairs. Take a look at some of our canal art and e-books.

  • Year 5 Mayan Extravaganza Outcome

On the afternoon of Thursday 3rd April, Year 5 had their Mayan extravaganza outcome. Parents were invited to attend, and the children were able to show them all they had learned during their Spring History topic. With a mixture of display and performance, the children wowed the adults who had attended with their expert knowledge of the Central American civilisation. Parents and carers could look at the work the children had produced, which included intricate artwork, amazing clay statues, mesmerising Mayan patterns using Scratch on the laptops and even delicious burritos that the children had made during their DT cooking lessons. The children’s efforts were amazing and everyone who attended agreed that it was a fantastic afternoon all round!! Fantastic job Year 5!!

  • Year 4 Anglo-Saxon Learning

For our Anglo-Saxon outcome we invited parents in to see some of the incredible artwork we have created and create some Anglo-Saxon crafts. There were runes to create, illuminated letters to colour, bracelets to make with wooden beads and scratch art crosses. Children loved sending time being creative with their grown ups.

  • Edgbaston High School for Girls Choral Day

On Wednesday 19th March 2025, members of our choir visited Edgbaston High School for Girls to participate in a Choral Day led by classically trained singer Matt Pandya. The day began with a series of vocal warm-up exercises, followed by learning and rehearsing songs from popular musicals and films, including 'The Greatest Showman', 'The Sound of Music', and Disney's 'Coco'. The children then delivered a fantastic performance of these songs to a full audience in EHS’s theatre. It was a truly memorable and enriching experience for all involved. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Edgbaston High School for Girls for hosting us and making the day so special.

  • Year 6 Space Centre Visit

Towards the end of last week Mrs Hammond's class were the second group to have the chance to visit the Space Centre in Leicester.  They had a fabulous time taking part in all of the activities that Mrs Copson's class did.  The visits overall have been a terrific success, full of wonder and aspirations - perhaps one day we will have an astronaut from Wilkinson whose dreams were ignited with a trip to the Space Centre!
