Science Fortnight ended with a team of two Year 5 and two Year 6 pupils visiting King Edward’s School, Birmingham to take part in their annual Wilkins-Franklin Inter School Science Competition. Last year we managed to finish runners-up in the inaugural competition and this year we wondered if we could go one better.  The team played 3 rounds with the initial round being a timed multiple choice quiz. This was followed by a practical investigation where the children had to design a bridge that could hold the most weight whilst also being the lightest bridge.  After the first two rounds the organisers announced that amazingly, we were 30 points ahead so would automatically qualify for the final. The other schools would play off against each other to determine who would meet us in the grand final.  The grand final arrived and although we scored 4 points the other team scored 6 meaning we would again finish runners-up. A fantastic achievement again – well done Wilkinson.
