We were introduced to our “Victorians” topic with a fantastic workshop from historical workshops. Mr De’Ath taught us all about the Victorians and what it would have been like for the children living during the Victorian era.
We explored lots of topics including toys, homes, jobs and school. We particularly enjoyed the archaeological dig where we used our enquiry skills to identify historical artefacts including coins and buckles.
Our Victorian school experience gave us the opportunity to write using chalk slates and learn all about the Victorian school punishments!
We also designed our own peg dolls and explored some of the traditional toys including snakes and ladders and dominos. We thoroughly enjoyed our Victorian day and are looking forward to learning more during the summer term.
